Robert Your Questions About Irish Ring Name

Robert asks…

Name of Irish Folk song?

I’m trying to find out the name of an Irish folk song that my dad used to play a lot (usually following drink!) in the early 80s. He would listen to a lot of Planxty, Dubliners and Chieftans. Maybe others but these are the only bands I remember.

The lyrics seemed to be a mixture of Gaelic and English and the chorus verse that I remember went something like this -

“A ring ting and a ring ting and a ride ay
And a ring ting and a ring ting and a ride ay [key higher than previous line]
A rooh boob roob, rooh boob roob randy
And me langstone keeps fadin away” [spit]

Any help greatly appreciated.
