Irish claddagh ring with serpents?

So I’m of Irish ancestry, and a few years back I went with my mom and dad for the third time and visited Northern Ireland. So while we were there, my parents bought me a claddagh ring. A few months later though, it became bent because it was fine silver. So my parents bought me another one back in Canada. But this one is sterling silver, and instead of hands by the heart, it has serpents.

So what does it mean when their are serpents instead of hands holding the heart & crown?

I’ve had it for a couple years, and I’m only now curious.
No, obviously its still a claddagh ring. The hands aren’t a requirement for it to be a claddagh ring. I was just curious if there was any meaning behind having serpents in a celtic knot with their mouths holding the heart and crown instead of hands meant anything. Through google it showed tons of different kinds of claddagh rings, but it doesn’t give any meaning behind the designs.

Are Claddagh rings worn only by Irish people and can it be worn representing friendship?

I want to get them for both me and a friend of mine to represent our friendship.

Name of Irish Folk song?

I’m trying to find out the name of an Irish folk song that my dad used to play a lot (usually following drink!) in the early 80s. He would listen to a lot of Planxty, Dubliners and Chieftans. Maybe others but these are the only bands I remember.

The lyrics seemed to be a mixture of Gaelic and English and the chorus verse that I remember went something like this -
